This year, Lamborghini has been celebrating the 50 th anniversary of the iconic Espada. This month, the brand toured the 1976 Espada (owned by the Lamborghini Museum) around London’s iconic automotive locales. Lamborghini explained that the first stop “…was the historic headquarters of the Royal Automobile Club (RAC) in Pall Mall, founded in 1897 and considered the cradle of English motoring.” Continuing on their journey, “…the Espada then traveled to the legendary Abbey Road, where… in August 50 years ago, the Beatles recorded their timeless song ‘Hey Jude’ at the famous Abbey Road Studios: a symbolic London site and one of the city’s most popular tourist destinations. Lamborghini has a long history of creating stunning sports cars. The Lamborghini Miura was produced between 1969 and 1971; it was followed by the production of the Miura SV (1971-1972). The classic model featured a V 12 4-liter engine that produced 370 horsepower in the original model and 385 horsepower in the SV edition. Of the vehicle, Lamborghini said, “Very few cars managed to change the automobile world like the Miura. With its central engine and fascinating body designed by Marcello Gandini for Bertone, in 1966 Lamborghini redefined the concept of Super Car. Fifty years ago, Lamborghini released the Espada, which was in production for ten years from 1968 to 1978. In that decade, 1,300 Espadas were produced in three series (S1, S2, and S3). It’s one of the most sought-after classic Lamborghini vehicles. The team at Lamborghini is in the process of restoring a classic Espada with a blue exterior and a mustard interior. The luxury brand explained, “Owned by Automobili Lamborghini, once finished in May 2018 it is destined for the factory’s classic fleet and for display in the Lamborghini Museum. Outstanding performance part of a historic day for Lamborghini in endurance racing Todd Blue, Founder and CEO of indiGO Auto Group, with award-winning dealerships in Houston, TX; Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage, CA; and St. Louis, MO; announced today that a Lamborghini Huracan GT3, racing under indiGO Auto Group sponsorship, finished an outstanding 13th in the GT Daytona class at the historic Rolex 24 at Daytona during the weekend of January 27-28. "This was a great weekend for indiGO Auto Group, along with our partners GRT Grasser Racing and Lamborghini," Mr. Blue said. "It was a great thrill to see a car carrying our name perform so magnificently under such demanding conditions in one of the world's great races." The #19 car, one of two entrants in the GRT Grasser Racing Team, started in 47th position, at the rear of the grid, but made an impressive surge into the top 15 during the grueling 24 hours of racing. The team completed 739 laps on the 3.56 mile combined road course, which utilizes part of the legendary tri-oval used for NASCAR's Daytona 500 and an infield road course. In addition to its 13th place finish in the GT Daytona class, the indiGO Auto Group car finished 33rd overall. The Lamborghini Huracan GT3 was part of the GRT Grasser Racing Team, owned by Gottfried Grasser. The team's other car finished first in its GTD class, marking the first 24-hour class win for Lamborghini.
